"This is actually a tough mapping to solve.  I use Rhino 5 and many of the new mapping tools. The process has many steps.  But, from I can tell, this is the best we can do. Here are the steps I take: 1) We will use a Custom Mapping…"

Seamless Texture Patterns

I am trying to create seamless texture patterns on forms with rounded edges. When doing so, the pattern does not look seamless on the rounded edge unless I move the objects in Rhino. Shown above, you can see the original object (bottom) and shifted object (top). The top shape has the same pattern applied, but looks more seamless…See More

How to render aluminum texture

Hi Everyone, I'm trying to render a painted aluminum texture, similar to the previous generation apple macbooks. Shown below are some iterations I've developed but they don't quite have that aluminum feel. I've noticed that aluminum itself should have high contrast, and show slight definition of form, without hard edges. Does anyone have any advice?…See More

"Thanks Scott, >Flamingo nXt Control Panel>Environment Tab>Deselect >No Transparent Object Alpha (Located at Bottom) Materials with transparencies now render using the background type or color. "

"At the bottom of the environment tab there is a switch titled "No Transparent Object Alpha"  Give that a try and see how it goes.  It is possible the Alpha channel is dropping out the black."

Material texture transparency

When rendering textured materials with a transparent mapping, the negative perforations are rendering as black, opposed to white. Only when an object is behind the texture will the texture render out correctly. If no material is located behind the mapping, the negative (perforations) will default to black. Is there a work around?…See More

How to create default nXt lighting scheme

I often use nXt to quickly render out snapshots. When doing so, I use a custom set of preferences and would like these to be the default when opening Rhino, or nXt control panel. How can I create a custom set of nXt options so they load each time Rhino opens?Does nXt offer an option, or must I save out a new set of default Rhino…See More
