Thanks for your feedback, you have inspired me to experiment with lighting channels as well as hdri images . regards, Rob

Basically is rendered on standard settings - using the default render engine. I used an HDR image for the sky/lighting. Keepng the sky and sun on separate lighting channels (I usually use 0 for the sky and 1 for the sun) - the trick is to adjust the time of day so the sunlight's angle matches the sky image... in this case from the back right side - if it hit the ship to much from the view point it would look false. This is a bit of trial and error - setting it - doing a test render - then resetting etc. etc.

I left it running for quite some time (I'm lucky to have a dedicated part of a cluster at work - which runs 24/7 - thus not clogging up my computer).

Once finished I saved it as a native nXt file and then worked on it in the nXt editor to adjust the balance between the sky and the sun. I also post added a very slight haze and glow - again in the nXt editor.

Very nice sky/water interface. Subtle and realistic. I'm currently experimenting with this particular aspect of rendering and find this to be specifically challenging. I'd appreciate your advice on just how to achieve that which you have with this fine rendering. Many thanks, Rob
