Flamingo nXt

easy rendering for Rhino in Windows

Hi Scott (or whoever)

Starting to use the farm more and more.

I guess the big delay after pressing farm render is while the files are uploaded to the shared directory? Or is something else going on?

I'd really rather not have the shared directory on my workstation (so the farm can still work if I'm remote).

Anything I can do to reduce the delay. It fully ties up Rhino for a good 5 minutes or so.

There can be quite a delay when the file is being transferred to the farm.  We send the model and all the textures to the farm directory.

There is no need to have the farm locally on your machine.  Any folder you can get to across your network will work as a farm directory.

So to minimize this, the best thing would be to have a NAS setup where my workstation is connected directly with a fast wired connection of some kind, but the farmers can pull data from the NAS over slower network connection.

Would that help?
