Flamingo nXt

easy rendering for Rhino in Windows

I hope that someone out there can please help,

I have a couple of issues with old materials that were created in old Flamingo being used in the new nxt library, I have gone through all the beta versions, purchased the full Flamingo nxt but this problem has remained;

If I open an older file and view the materials through the Flamingo nxt Control Panel the 1st thing I notice is the massive amount of duplication, there appears to textures like;

FRED 00

FRED 00 00

FRED 00 00 00

FRED 00 00 00 00

FRED 00 00 00 00 00

FRED 00 00 00 00 00 00

FRED 00 00 00 00 00 00 00

FRED 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00

Well, you get the picture but, each of these material are identical and there can be anything from 2 to 20 or more duplicates of which (I hasten to add) are not in the original file created by another pc / user. This is relatively 'easy' however 'laborious' to correct by manually deleting the all duplicates.

Then I have to deal with how the materials display; mainly (90%) display as a simple flat coloured squares with an approximate representative / randomly selected (but completely flat) colour, even if it has a wood grain etc. One double click on each individual material and an 'okay' then that material displays correctly as a sphere with the wood grain et al.... Hundreds of materials later I've got RSI or asleep at my desk! Enough said; this too can be quite a tedious task.

I then tried to copy and paste all the geometry in to a new file as an experiment, interestingly the material remains attached to the object and it renders the materials perfectly fine but the nxt library is completely empty, i.e. there appears to be nothing in it at all! It is not therefore possible to edit or change any of the materials or assign them to another object.

Can someone please help, aside from these issues I'm finding the new nxt to be a great program to work with, especially loving the adjustable light channels whilst rendering!

Thanks in advance

Duncan -

What is the date on your build?  This is an older problem that we believed that was fixed.  you can go to the Flamingo NXT About box to find out.

Hi Scott,

Many thanks for your prompt reply, I downloaded the patch; "8th June 2012" opened up the file again and I still have the exact same issues! (Please see the 3 attachments).

Is there anything else I could try?

Hi Scott,

I'm still having all the same issues. do you have a solution?

Thanks in advance
