Flamingo nXt

easy rendering for Rhino in Windows

Hi All,

Flamingo 2 and Rhino4 work fine on my PC, but I can't get V2 or nXt to
work properly with the Rhino V5 beta. It doesn't "see" Flamingo V2 at all,
and I'm having the install issues other people have mentioned with Flamingo
nXt...

Norton Utilities erasing the install file if it's not turned off
Once installed it pops up a box saying "Flamingo beta has expired"
Then pops up a web page saying I have the most current version!!!

I thought I wanted to buy nXt, but it doesn't seem like it's ready for prime time...

There are a number of problems here.  Here is you path out of this:

  1. Your Rhino 5 is a 64-bit version.  This means Flamingo 2 will not work.  Flamingo 2 is only 32-bit.  Rhino 4 always runs as a 32-bit program.
  2. The Flamingo NXt you have is a Beta version.  The Beta expired.  You will need to buy and NXT.  It will run in both your Rhino 4 and Rhino 5.
  3. You can un-install the Beta of Flamingo NXT.  It will sop the messages.

NXT is ready, but it looks like we have to get the install straight.

Thanks Scott,

I should have realized the 32/64 bit issue was there... Also I had just used the nXt beta a day or
two before on my work PC with the Rhino 5 beta with no problems, so this seems to be one of those
"window of opportunity" situations as far as it running on my home PC.

One other quick question; Is it safe to assume that both Flamingo nXt and Rhino 5 when officially
released will still allow use on one work PC and one home PC as long as only one is used at a time???
(Although sometimes I think I may need to check into getting a second license. I'm sure one of these
days I'm going to forget to turn off my copy at work and start it at home, setting off all the McNeel
software alarms... Helicopters flying overhead... Blue sedans out in front of the house... AAAhhhmmm,
maybe too much caffeine!!! :^)

Yes, you will be able to do this.  As long as the two installs are not being used at the same time.

An additional note.  If you own the software, you can determine if you want to install it at home.  If the company owns the software, then they would need to allow you to let it on your computer at home.
