Flamingo nXt

easy rendering for Rhino in Windows

I am used to work with a background image and a transparent floor that catches the shadow but appart from that it does not show (this was in Form Z which we used for many years). The effect is that the object casts a shadow into the background image. The integration can be quite convincing. How can I do this in Flamingo?

There are two ways to do this in Flamingo NXT.

  1. You can turn on the groundplane and tag is as Alpha Channel.  Flamingo NXT Control Panel > Environment Tab > Groundplane > Enable.  Then check in Alpha Channel
  2. You can also tag the surface you are using as a floor.  Select the Object,  then go to Rhino Object Properties.  In the Object Properties is a Flamingo section.  There you can tag the object as Alpha Channel.

Is there a way of doing this in Flamingo? Our lab does not have the NXT version.

No, unfortunately this is not an option in the older version of Flamingo.
