Do you have Flamingo 2 on your machine?

Using Rhino 4 I managed to bring some in but they do not render except when I raytrace (not using nXt)
cheers

Did you insert them with NXT? You may need to delete the trees you have inserted, then re-insert them with NXT's insert command.

I tried to move the Fl 2.0 plib library into the Flamingo nXt folder but am not allowed to do that.
Permalink Reply by JAMES C BEAVERS on September 29, 2011 at 1:14am That does not work, Scott. I can not see any of my FL2 trees in the 64 bit version. I can see them in the 32 bit version but they do not render correctly. The bark is missing. This is also true for the few AR2 Plants, I can see, from nXt.
With the last build this was not a problem. This is something very new that is badly broken.

Not even these render correctly. No bark and some funny looking foliage similar to months ago. Also, many other materials are missing textures that were there just one month ago.
It's a 64bit install problem or so it seems. My 32 bit version is fine. (both Sep 8 builds)

It seems my problem relates at least somewhat to ignorance. I cannot find out how to create a legacy flamingo plant file ... all my AR2 plants are in a .plib file and nXt cannot find them unless they have been converted. I can't find any information about this.
Using Fl2.0 the plants do show up in the menu ... when I insert one then Flamingo nXt ceases to be my renderer of choice and Fl2 takes over ... and it won't render the nXt plants. So I go around in circles
thanks,
eric

As far as I know there is no way to covert the old FL2 plants. If FL2 is installed nXt should find the FL2 plants and convert them when you use the Insert FL2 Plant thing. They also should show up under the AR2 Plant folder. (see attached)
Right now the latest builds are definitely broken when it comes to FL2 Plants.
The few nXt Plants seem to work OK but not any inserted using Insert FL2 Plants which worked fine before this build.
The Point Cloud thing still stinks. I'll be glad when they get at least an option for anything else. Hopefully it will be fixed soon.

Permalink Reply by JAMES C BEAVERS on September 29, 2011 at 1:01am As you can see by the attached screen shot, many materials in this model have been wiped clean of maps and/or textures. This is the same for RH4, RH5 32 and 64 bit versions. Luckily I have a RH5 FL2 version that still works.

Permalink Reply by JAMES C BEAVERS on September 29, 2011 at 5:27am I spoke too soon on this one. The FL2 version is also corrupted. I am beginning to believe all these problems are related to my FL2 being broken.
Attached are files from FL2 showing map paths that do not exist, and never have, on this computer. I have no clue what caused this.
Just checked. My notebook RH4-FL2 works.

Permalink Reply by JAMES C BEAVERS on September 29, 2011 at 9:35am I just finished a re-install of FL2 and it is working fine now. I haven't tried install the SR-1 update yet. When I tried it earlier today I got a message saying Windows was not able to run the .msp file.
I have uninstalled all of my nXt versions. I'll sleep on it before trying it again. Good luck, Eric.
